One things that has stood out as much as anything else for me so far is match fitness. It was noticeable that Sunderland seemed very fit, then again our ex fitness coach has done a wonderfull job with them as he did with us. So with that it's great to see the arrival of a new fitness coach, and he seems a pretty experienced and interesting personality. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/features/this_season/FN13306080820-1155.htmLets hope he has a exiting and successful future at our wonderfull club. I'm not sure whether it was a question of fitness against Sunderland. I felt Sunderland wanted it more.

when Rafa first arrived, I thought we looked far busier and fitter (under Paco). The opposition were surrounded by 2 or 3 of our men when they got the ball. They were always pressurised.
That isn't the case in the last 2 seasons.
On a different note. I think we are like a top technical European team, who like time on the ball. We need to be able to mix it when called upon (e.g. like Souness and his mates could do all those years ago).

It is true that Sunderland seemed to want it more but we just don't pressurise or chase down like we can do. I expect that to improve when Masch and Lucas get back but would like to see a bit more closing down the opposition as that is where we seem to be letting teams run at us at the mo.
The point I was trying to make was that Sunderland seem to have improved alot in this department, they seemed to keep running the full 90 minutes too. I'm hoping that the fitness and aggression will be back in the next game or two.
I'd like to think we can outplay a team these days but without a bit more flare and skill there will be many occasions where high tempo and outworking the opposition will be key to more success IMO
