It sounds like a beauty. Obviously ye cannae keep a good man down for long.
It's like deja vu. He was impressive in last summer's pre-season friendlies also. I'd love it if he could maintain this form throughout the season, but I won't hold my breath (mainly because I wouldn't live long enough to see if he could manage it or not).

i was gonna say the exact same thing in the last post - he always looks excellent in pre-season. maybe he just can't play along with captain marvel.

I have visions of Gerrard and Voronin in the school band together with Gerrard on the tamborine frowning at Voronin has he strikes the triangle on the wrong beat.

Why couldn't he play along with Steven Gerrard? Come on Dude, we're mates now but why can't you support Gerrard? If you don't like the man then fair enough but his commitment and performances in a red shirt and more importantly his statistics hold up to scrutiny, season on season. I know you don't like him but do you not think he is one of our best players? I'm not trying to start an argument with you again so don't take it that way but it seems a mixture of familiarity breeding contempt and loathe of the use of the word "world class" by Skysports commentators hae you hating Gerrard when we should be supporting someone who scored 20 goals last season.

King Kenny agrees, do you not agree with Kenny? Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard have developed a near 'telepathic' partnership that ranks them amongst the Anfield greats.
That is the view of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, who created possibly the greatest of all striking partnerships, with Reds hero Ian Rush back in the Eighties.
Dalglish is perfectly placed to assess the fast blossoming pairing that has turned Liverpool into the form team in the Premier League.
And he is encouraged massively by what he has seen in recent matches, with a strike force that he believes can make the club great again.
"The understanding that has developed between Torres and Steven Gerrard is becoming telepathic," said Dalglish.
"There were a couple of exchanges between them against Reading where one didn't even have to look for the other before a pass was played. They just seemed to be able to judge where the other wanted the ball played.
Advertisement "It's going to be fascinating to watch over the next few seasons as they get better."

Martin, i don't 'hate' SG, or indeed any player. the ability of veronin and SG to play together, above, was my attempt at humour. I admire SG, for his contributions....but I've just never been caught up in the hyperbole. And that is what it is. When have you ever, at any point, seen an objective analysis of his performances. He has immense stamina and strength of character. But I've always felt that he's one of those type of players who disrupts our flow. Other lads don't get a fair crack to shine. I could break it down into various traits (which I have done in the past). I'm happy to have him at Anfield. But he's not the God that the english media make him out to be. Indeed when he was out for a month or two, 2 or 3 years ago, the data actually showed that we won more points per game in his absense. When we played away at Fulham last season, we were far more fluent, in his absence. He's a very good player, but that's it. No worries re us disagreeing on SG, mate. Good debate makes life a lot more interesting. It would be terribly boring if we all agreed on everything.

I tend to agree with the Dude on Stevie G and a lot of his previous posts on the subject. It's definitely not a case of hating him or anything and of course I'm more than happy that he's at the club and I think that he's very gifted BUT......the jury is out until we win the league . I'm more than happy to take my hat off to him, eat humble pie etc., if he delivers the title. Jesus, at this stage if he could captain the side to a convincing win over United even! .

Ferguson is confident of signing Berbatov. I guess that means that Keane is a no go or is Ramos mental enough to sell both his strikers at the same time.
Apologies for going back on post guys

spot the liberal democrat at this stage if he could captain the side to a convincing win over United even! .
it sure would be a start, Edward. In a premiership that is now getting ever closer to scotland's closed shop (only a select number of teams can win the title), those results against the other top three are crucial. And we have been failing miserably on that score.

We're definitely in for Keane, just in case anyone doubted that.
How far the deal has actually got, well rumours vary really, but it's very close to being done.
He wants to come here, we want him to come here, a fee of £17.5m (in total, some of it conditional on certain targets) is being mentioned as having been agreed in principal at the very least.
The idea of the deal being close to completion is coming via the player and/or his agent.
It can still all go wrong of course, but at least it's all being done pretty much behind the scenes, rather than through the press.
